King Solomon quote:

“There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God,” *

  1. I’d string verse 25 on there, to complete the last sentence and make it more clear (it should be a comma, and not a period). 25″for apart from Him who can eat or who can have enjoyment?”
Meaning that the only way for you to enjoy toil (which is grueling work) is in doing it for God. Not meaning that we should all get to do things we enjoy. To find enjoyment, our situation doesn’t need to change, only who we are focusing on has to.

  2. Verse 24 is the one that stood out to me. So that’s what made the cut. Of course you’ll see I linked to the entire chapter to put it all in context.

What I read from the above is that we should not begrudge our grueling work, but rather find joy in it. For what other purpose do we have on this earth than doing the work God intends us to do. That said, if we find we are doing work we are NOT intended to do, then we should take the necessary steps to change our situation.

    Duly noted on the comma.
