While Mike Kitchen may not be attending the San Diego Comic Con this year, SPUD & HARRY are crashing the party! Keep your eyes open for SPUD & HARRY #1 and you could snag your very own copy FREE!

And while you’re there, don’t forget to grab The Possum #2.

  1. Sheeee-it, that Spud and Harry meet logo is really, really sharp.
Someone pimping your goods there for you? That’s one convention I’d really like to attend some time…

  2. As a matter of fact, yes. I’ve got an Ultraist Agent down there running “Operation: Freebie”. One of these days I will attend that show (perhaps next year?) but for now, financially speaking, it seemed wiser to do the Con remotely.

As for that logo, this is my first attempt at using the Dave Sim tracing paper method. I like it. It lets the roughs stay loose and messy, and keeps the illustration board clean and pristine. It also gives that intermittent “mirror” pass to make sure the drawing isn’t totally out of whack, which my drawings desperately need.

I should post the work in process… next week?

  3. Yes, work-in-process, please.
I was thinking about this drawing on my after-work-walk to the lake and, co-inky-dinkly, planned to ask you exactly for such today. Like…howdidya make it look *so*…damn good? It doesn’t at all look simply like a damn fine drawing scanned in, and Adobe’d over a layer of the Con logo. But it probably is!
    Share your secrets!

  4. This is the sort of thing that is always interesting to hear. I can’t help but to reflect with “Wow, someone is actually THINKING about the work that I’ve done!” An idea has been thrown into the void, and something has echoed back. I had the same response when Steven sent in the Spy Guy drawings he drew in class a few months back. That really means something.

As for the work-in-process, yeah. You got it right. Scanned in drawing Adobe’d over a Con logo layer. Still, I plan to post the process, so maybe there will still be some other little secrets revealed…
