Interview with Silber Media

I did an interview a few months back (on the day my son was born actually) with Brian John Mitchell for his Indie Comic Creators Interviews over at Silber Media. Just click on the link below.

And there’s a bunch of other great comic artists participating in the interview series like Troy Little, Gary Scott Beatty, Blair Kitchen, Brandon Graham , Dave Sim and many more.

  1. That was a great interview, Mike. I like your way of calculating the price of a comic. My buddy Bosco has a different method. He maintains that a comics should always cost what a can of SODA costs, in order for it to be affordable on a kid’s allowance. I guess they used to cost about the same back in “the old days”

  2. Glad you liked it Jamie. That WOULD be interesting to see what an old fashioned bottle of soda would have cost in relation to a silver dime. Ingredients were proper sugar back then and not this crazy glucose-fructose / high-fructose corn syrup. A quick google image search showed me a Pepsi bottle advertised for 5 cents, which would make a comic worth TWO cans of soda by my calculations (which would be about right by today’s prices as well)… it’s an interesting mental exercise.
