I never really got star trek. It was OK, but the battles were always a little lame…. a lot of standing around and talking, and the tazers just looked like garage door openers.

I think you can tell a lot about a person by which show/movie they like better: Star Wars, or Star Trek. I’m sure there is some psyco analysis done on that somewhere.

Star Wars is swashbuckling. The hero’s journey. It’s a galactic opera.

Star Trek is more about power politics. It’s Shakespearean in nature.

I noticed a paradigm shift in the types of people that liked Star Trek and Star Wars in the new millennium and the dawn of the Star Wars prequels. Suddenly the Star Wars people started looking like the Trekies from the 80′s and 90′s.

Me, I like ‘em both.

The Star Wars prequels remind me more of Star Trek, than Star Wars, that’s probably why the fans remind you more of Star Trek fans, than Star Wars fans. The prequels got too wrapped up in the political storyline, and forgot about the swashbuckling. They lost the dirt, and grit which made the original movies so great (especially the first two)…. Return of the Jedi is half way between the originals and the prequels.
