Dick Dale quotes:

“Get smart. Forget about trying to be the big man, and be ‘famous’ as one calls it on the cover of Rolling Stone. Become a business person, and market your product the proper way and you will make a hundred times more money and you’ll be powerful and strong within yourself, PLUS you will own EVERYTHING.”

“Go in there and play for nothing at first, and if you start drawing people, then work out a deal to get paid. And then, you know, don’t be so egotistical that you don’t want to do free gigs. Do the free gigs so that you’ll build up a following and I mean, you know, you can make, once you get going, you can do a thousand dollars a night, just in t-shirts or your records.” *

  1. I pulled this version of the Dick dale interview because people were posting it and failing to give me credit for my creation. Is it too much to ask, to properly give credit to the person who created and provided it free of charge to the general public? Please, in the future, when you find a video that you want to post to your page, do your research and give the proper credit where it is due. Every artist deserves credit for their creations.
I am aware that this may be a little too late, (19,000 hits+), and this is another lesson that I had to learn, but I am not a total ass. I am reposting this video for the public, but this time I signed it. Thank you for understanding.

  2. Hi Tommy.

I don’t think it is too much to ask, to properly give credit to the person who created and provided it free of charge to the general public. Not at all. You can see in the previous post, I followed the link trail back as far as I could take it at the time for exactly that reason. And please keep in mind that (at least in my case) this blog is being used primarily as a personal journal to organize thoughts and ideas. Tracking down the source to YouTube videos is not exactly the best use of my time. And remember, that when the video is clicked on, YouTube does provide a description area for you to post whatever credit information you see as being important to the videos you post. As I see it; once a video is placed in a public forum like YouTube, it is fair game to be linked to and embedded. Don’t you think so?

All that said; thank you for posting the video originally, and for re-posting your new signed version. There is a lot of value to Dick Dales words here, and I am glad that you decided to make it available to the world.

And also thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts here in the Ultraist Studios Journal.
